










Getting an EV is exciting. Figuring out how to charge it at home? That part can get complicated fast. A lot of homeowners assume they can just plug into a standard outlet and call it a day - but that's not how it works, and it's not safe. What you actually need is a dedicated circuit sized for the job, run the right way, with the proper protection built in.
Here's what we were working with on this one: an existing panel in the garage with available capacity, and a homeowner who needed a clean, code-compliant way to charge their EV right in the garage. We pulled a dedicated 50 amp circuit from the panel, ran it through metal conduit along the wall and ceiling, and brought it down to a weatherproof outlet box mounted near the garage door opening - exactly where it needed to be.
The GFCI protection is a requirement on EV circuits like this, and it's there for good reason. It adds a critical layer of safety between the charger and the electrical system. We don't skip steps like that. Every part of this install was done to code, from the breaker we landed in the panel to the WR-rated receptacle at the end of the run.
The finished product is a wall-mounted EV charger with a clean conduit run feeding it power - solid, safe, and ready to handle daily charging without a second thought. No extension cords, no overloaded circuits, no workarounds. Just a proper dedicated circuit doing exactly what it's supposed to do. That's the standard we hold every job to, no matter the size.
