This one was all about setting a homeowner up for the future without tearing into their walls. The ask was straightforward - add a dedicated 20-amp circuit for a new sauna. But instead of just running a single circuit and calling it done, we took a smarter approach and installed an outdoor subpanel tucked under the covered deck.

Here's why that matters. A subpanel gives you a local distribution point for power right where you need it. So when this homeowner eventually wants to add a hot tub, an EV charger, or more outdoor circuits, that infrastructure is already there. No major drywall repairs. No going back into the main panel every time something new gets added. The conduit runs stay clean and accessible, and the whole setup stays code-compliant from the start.

We also took care of the outdoor lighting circuits on the covered deck while we were at it. The string lights and ceiling fan were wired in properly - not just extension cords or spliced connections, which is something we see more often than you'd think on older covered decks. A weatherproof GFCI outlet was added on the deck as well, giving the homeowner a safe, protected place to plug in without worrying about moisture getting into the connection.

What you end up with here is a yard that actually works with you. The subpanel is mounted neatly under the deck, the conduit is strapped clean along the framing, and every circuit has a proper home. It's the kind of electrical work that stays hidden until you need it - and then it just works.
