Puck Lights Added to a Custom Closet Built-In

Most closets have one thing in common - bad lighting. Or none at all. You open the door, squint into a dark corner, and hope you're grabbing the right thing. It's one of those small annoyances that adds up fast, especially when it's a built-in you actually rely on every day.

Here's what we were working with: a brand-new closet built-in with great storage - shelves, hanging rods, dividers, the works. Clean setup. But without any dedicated lighting, it was just a dark box. So we got to work installing puck lights directly into the underside of the top section, wiring everything clean through the cabinet panels.

The installation process matters more than people think. We used blue painter's tape to mark and protect the surface during the cut-in phase, keeping the holes clean and precise. Each puck light sits flush in its own hole, with the wiring routed neatly behind the panel. No exposed runs, no messy wire clusters. Just a tight, finished look that matches the quality of the built-in itself.

Once everything was connected and powered up, the difference was immediate. Four puck lights spread evenly across the top of the unit throw consistent light down across every shelf and hanging rod. The whole interior opens up. You can actually see what you're looking at - colors, labels, everything. It's one of those upgrades that sounds simple but genuinely changes how you use a space every single day.
